Writing status updates people actually read
A simple structure for updates that keep everyone aligned in under two minutes.
The Voyra team
Most status updates are either too long to read or too vague to act on. A good update answers three questions quickly: what changed, what's next and where you need help.
A three-part structure
- Progress — what moved forward since the last update
- Next — the one or two things you'll focus on
- Blockers — anything that needs a decision or a hand
Keep each part to a sentence or two. If a topic needs more, link to it rather than expanding the update.
